Week 9 NFL Picks

Filed under: NFL, NFL Predictions — Caveman @ 12:45 am

I finished up 8-5-1, losing three of four late games and the Monday night game. I mentioned last week that I felt I was about to enter “the zone” (a place where you can do no wrong).

I went into the late games 7-1-1, clearly ready for the 11-2-1 week I predicted. Then only Cleveland showed up in the late games and Tennessee took it to the Colts.

Plus, the early games I hit three .5 winners (Washington, St. Louis and Philadelphia), so for the first this season I feel lost. No worries though, I’ve got the darts and coins, so here we go:

Houston +4.5 over Minnesota – The Texans might win this game outright simply because I have no confidence the Vikings can cover Andre Johnson.

Jacksonville -7.5 over Cincinnati – Normally this is an easy pick – Bengals, since the Jags are never motivated to play an inferior team, but this Jags team is pissed off.

Tampa Bay -9 over Kansas City – Does Kansas City cover the spread last week if not for Brett Favre? I doubt it. Jeff Garcia is not Brett Favre.

Cleveland -1.5 over Baltimore – I am starting to like this Browns team, but they have to get better in the red zone.

Buffalo -5 over NY Jets – I have a rule never back a shaky quarterback on the road, yep, Brett Favre is now officially a shaky quarterback.

Arizona -3.0 over St. Louis – This is a must-win game for the Cardinals, whereas the Rams are still in the “let’s not get blown out” mode.

Chicago -12.5 over Detroit – I think this is all we need to know – “Dan Orlovsky on the road in a hostile environment.”

Green Bay +4 over Tennessee – I think the Titans struggle in this game but find a way to win by a field goal.

Miami +3.5 over Denver – This is a sucker bet, but I have absolutely no respect for the Donkeys.

Oakland +3 over Atlanta – I am somewhat surprised the Falcons are good enough to be favored on the road. Don’t the odds-makers know the “The Cable Guy” takes care of his home field.

NY Giants -8.5 over Dallas – I don’t care if Bill Belichek is calling the defense for the Cowboys this game will not be close.

Philadelphia -7.0 over Seattle–The Eagles have had seemingly hundreds of plays from the one yard line this year and they have converted those chances into ZERO TDs. Maybe Andy Reid should stop eating doughnuts on the sideline and figure out how to put the ball in the endzone from the 1. That almost cost me my “best bet” last week.

Indianapolis -6 over New England – Why are the Colts favored by 6 points? In addition to sucking sweaty donkey butt, the Colts might be without their best player – Reggie Wayne. And they lose their best running back, Dominic Rhodes, this week when Joseph Addai returns.

But just like the Cowboys last week, the Colts will find a way to not only to win this game but cover the spread as well.

Pittsburgh +2 over Washington – The Redskins have not looked good since their little run through Dallas and Philadelphia.

Last Week: 8-5-1

Season: 64-49-3

Best Bet: NY Giants -8.5

Best Bets: 6-1-1
